Problems with SNAP

Contacting the #government.

Okay, okay, okay, I'll try not to be super boring and redundant here.

RE: The fourth time in a row my #SNAP #benefits #canceled with no prior notice.

This is really annoying to me.

Oh, by the way sorry about the hash tags.  I'm just learning how to use them, so please bear with me.

My food stamps come on the eleventh of the month.  By the time I find out that they are not going to reload my card that month, I have already lost approximately $94 from my benefits because of the pro-rating from the first of the month.  That's another whole issue.

Anyway, no food stamps.  Then the computer went down for the whole week-end, so I wasn't really aware of if it was due to the computer going down for the whole week-end or my stamps had not been re-newed.  If it was renewal time.  I check my account at religiously now.

By the time I can start filing again it's already the thirteenth.

Now I can't call anyone and say, "Hey WTH!"  I called 211.  I tried to call my 'local' Health and Human Services office.  Of course none of those connect you with a real human.

I filed online, again. I filed for emergency foodstamps.  I only receive $344 a month from Social Security.  How can this not be seen as an emergency when I have no food?

Now, I'm spending my days in lovely ways running back and forth to food cupboards.  Which I have to do on my bicycle.  I am 62 years old.  Come on.

So I contacted my congressman.  John #Cornyn happens to be a republican but okay I decided to give him a chance.

His website is easy to understand, very clear and friendly website.  His staff is friendly.  They paid prompt attention to my concern.  Admittedly I was stress and started crying on the phone.  Wish I hadn't done that.  I think I lost them there.  In a short amount of time they sent their letters of polite, "Gee so sorry, can't really do anything to help you."

They did give me two more phone numbers to call.  Again, endless repeating loop of pushing buttons on my phone that never take me to a real person.

I contacted Blake Farenthold.  His liaison Nicole #Blake did not win any awards with me.  She contacted me two weeks later.  this is her email to me.

Yeah well right.  Back at the ranch, I sit with no food and no recourse apparently.

I would like to see my government do something about making sure these websites work correctly.

This #blog is getting long, but what I would like from these people is to stop calling me a liar, listen to what I have to say, give back our HHS local office, answer your damn phone, fix your website, and stop ripping off the American citizens of our little, tiny food stamps even.

Ya'll have a nice day.

Reta West
